· · 2 min read

The devotional film "Hanuman Ansh," based on Neem Karoli Baba's life, is poised to surpass ₹250 crore at the Indian box office. Its success highlights the power of word-of-mouth, significantly outperforming other recent releases like "Haiwaan."

The devotional drama Hanuman Ansh is on the cusp of achieving a significant milestone, projected to cross the ₹250 crore mark at the Indian domestic box office soon. This low-budget film, centered on the life and teachings of the revered spiritual figure Neem Karoli Baba, has captivated audiences and demonstrated remarkable staying power against larger productions.

A Miraculous Box Office Journey

Beginning its theatrical run with a modest ₹10 lakh opening in India, Hanuman Ansh gradually built momentum, reaching ₹10.40 crore by the end of its third week. The film experienced an extraordinary surge in collections thereafter, accumulating ₹61 crore by its fourth week and ₹90 crore by its fifth week. Its consistent performance continued with daily collections such as ₹10.50 crore on day 36, ₹18.50 crore on day 37, and ₹22.50 crore on day 38.

According to film trade portal Sacnilk, the film's total India net collection currently stands at ₹231.13 crore, translating to an India gross collection of ₹272.90 crore. Internationally, Hanuman Ansh has added ₹18.50 crore, bringing its worldwide earnings to an impressive ₹291.40 crore, with industry observers anticipating it will soon reach the ₹300 crore global milestone.

Outperforming Competition

Hanuman Ansh has not only proven the immense power of word-of-mouth but has also held its ground firmly against several contemporary releases. Notably, it has significantly outpaced the crime thriller Haiwaan, starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, which is heading towards a disaster classification with a mere ₹8.75 crore in net domestic earnings.

The devotional film also faced off against Mirzapur: The Movie, a big-screen adaptation of the popular OTT series featuring Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal. While Mirzapur: The Movie is also performing well, currently eyeing the ₹200 crore mark with ₹195.70 crore in India net collection, Hanuman Ansh has managed to carve out its own successful path, underscoring a strong audience preference for its unique narrative.
