Gautam Adani Launches 'Vande Bharatam' to Boost Grassroots Talent Across India

· · 3 min read

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani launched ‘Vande Bharatam’ on his 64th birthday. This nationwide initiative aims to identify and support innovators and entrepreneurs from all 36 states and union territories, extending beyond traditional startup hubs.

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has unveiled 'Vande Bharatam,' a sweeping nationwide initiative designed to unearth and empower innovators, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers across India. Launched on his 64th birthday, the program seeks to extend opportunities beyond conventional startup centers, reaching all 36 states and union territories, over 800 districts, and engaging participants in multiple Indian languages.

Adani's Vision for Inclusive Entrepreneurship

During the launch, Gautam Adani emphasized his personal journey and the potential he sees across the nation. "When I began my journey, I had nothing. Everything I am and everything I have achieved was given to me by the soil of Bharat. There is no shortage of talent in our nation, but opportunity has not always reached every corner of the country," Adani stated. He reiterated his belief: "If I can do it, any Indian can do it. All they need is an opportunity and a stage."

The initiative directly addresses the disparity in India's burgeoning startup ecosystem, where over 80 percent of founders still originate from a mere handful of cities. 'Vande Bharatam' is designed to bridge this gap, providing a platform for those whose ideas might otherwise remain undiscovered.

Who Can Participate in Vande Bharatam?

The 'Vande Bharatam' initiative is inclusive, welcoming anyone with an innovative idea, solution, or entrepreneurial ambition. There are no restrictions based on age, profession, educational background, or the stage of development of their venture. Participants can apply with a raw concept, a working prototype, an early-stage venture, or even an established business. Crucially, a registered startup is not a prerequisite for participation.

Key Focus Areas and Support Pathways

Entries for the Vande Bharatam initiative will be accepted across a diverse range of sectors, including:

  • Technology
  • Manufacturing
  • Sustainability
  • Agriculture
  • Traditional Crafts
  • Community-led Solutions

Special pathways have been created to encourage participation from underrepresented groups, including women entrepreneurs, tribal entrepreneurs, rural innovators, Divyang entrepreneurs, and community-based innovators tackling local challenges.

Structured Evaluation and Mentorship for Finalists

All applications will undergo a rigorous evaluation process, focusing on innovation, entrepreneurial potential, impact, and scalability. Specific details regarding assessment criteria, jury composition, and selection stages are expected to be announced soon. Following state and regional evaluations, 75 finalists will be chosen to participate in an intensive program in Ahmedabad.

This program will offer invaluable mentorship, extensive industry interactions, and direct engagement with investors and business leaders. Finalists will gain access to incubation support and strategic partnerships aimed at transforming their ideas into viable enterprises. The initiative also plans to award prize money and category-based recognitions, with further details to be revealed at a later stage.

Driving India Towards 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047

The Grand Finale, slated to coincide with India's Independence Day celebrations, will mark the beginning of an ongoing platform. This platform will continuously connect participants with mentors, investors, industry leaders, and a network of fellow innovators. As India strives towards its goal of becoming a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) by 2047, expanding participation in entrepreneurship and innovation is recognized as critical for driving economic growth, creating jobs, and effectively addressing local challenges.
