· · 2 min read

Exide Industries has partnered with Germany's ExCom Energy Solutions GmbH to expand its industrial battery and energy storage business across the European Economic Area. The deal, signed September 15, boosted Exide's shares by 2% in early trading.

Shares of Exide Industries Ltd saw a notable rise in Wednesday's trade following the announcement of a significant long-term strategic cooperation agreement with Germany-based ExCom Energy Solutions GmbH. This partnership aims to bolster Exide's footprint in the industrial battery and energy storage sectors throughout the European Economic Area (EEA).

Expanding Reach in Europe's Battery Market

The agreement, formalized on September 15, establishes a comprehensive commercial and technical collaboration. Under this arrangement, ExCom will serve as the primary commercial and technical interface for customers within the EEA. Its responsibilities will encompass customer development, distribution, technical project support, and after-sales coordination, while products will be marketed and sold under the ExCom brand.

Initially, the collaboration will concentrate on traction and motive power battery solutions. These are crucial for applications such as material handling equipment, logistics operations, and various other industrial mobility needs. The scope will also extend to stationary battery systems designed for industrial, infrastructure, and broader energy storage applications.

Synergy and Future Prospects

The strategic alliance leverages Exide India's robust manufacturing capabilities, extensive technology portfolio, and deep expertise in industrial battery solutions. These will be combined with ExCom's established market presence, specialized application engineering, and localized customer support infrastructure. Together, the companies aspire to deliver a comprehensive suite of offerings, including advanced battery systems, charging technologies, system integration, application engineering, and full lifecycle services.

Avik Roy, Managing Director and CEO of Exide Industries, underscored the strategic importance of the EEA for the company's industrial energy storage ambitions. He articulated that the partnership is designed to generate enduring value for customers across the region and accelerate the growth trajectory of Exide's industrial battery business.

Looking ahead, both companies plan to explore further advancements, including venturing into advanced chemistry solutions, building upon their foundational cooperation in industrial energy storage.
