Emirates Integrates Crypto.com Pay for Flight Bookings
Emirates, Dubai's flagship airline, has expanded its digital payment options by integrating Crypto.com Pay for flight bookings. This new service, rolled out in July 2026, allows customers in the United Arab Emirates to pay for airfares using cryptocurrency via the airline's official website and mobile application.
The initiative follows a memorandum of understanding signed between Emirates and Crypto.com in July 2025, aimed at exploring the integration of crypto payment solutions into the airline's digital ecosystem. The service is available for bookings priced and settled in UAE dirhams (AED) for customers holding a Crypto.com account.
How Crypto Payments Work on Emirates
Passengers wishing to utilize this new payment method can select Crypto.com Pay during the checkout process on both emirates.com and the Emirates App. The airline emphasizes that all payments are processed securely and in full compliance with UAE regulatory requirements.
- On the Emirates App: Customers are redirected to the Crypto.com app to approve the payment from their digital wallet. Upon successful transaction, they return to the Emirates app to receive their booking confirmation and e-ticket.
- For Desktop Bookings: Users can choose Crypto.com Pay at checkout, scan a QR code displayed on the payment page using their Crypto.com app, approve the transaction, and then receive their e-ticket.
Strategic Move Aligns with UAE's Digital Economy Goals
Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted that this new payment option is a direct response to evolving customer preferences. "Bringing this initiative to life delivers on our commitment to expanding customer choice in how they pay for travel," Kazim stated. He noted that the partnership reflects the changing habits of younger, digitally savvy travelers who increasingly manage payments and travel services via smartphones.
Kazim also praised the rapid implementation, stating, "Moving from signature to launch with Crypto.com in under a year is a credit to both teams, and to a regulatory environment that makes this kind of innovation possible, reflecting the UAE's and Dubai's ambition to lead in fintech and the digital economy."
This initiative directly supports Dubai’s Cashless Strategy under the D33 Economic Agenda, which aims for 90 percent of all financial transactions across government and private sectors to be digital by the end of 2026. The integration of Crypto.com Pay is the latest in Emirates' ongoing efforts to provide greater payment flexibility, building on previous introductions of EMI payment options for Indian travelers and optional travel insurance during the booking process.
