Eli Lilly and Company India announced on Thursday, June 25, 2026, the launch of Tanstrive, a new targeted oral therapy for patients in India battling locally advanced or metastatic solid tumours. This significant development follows marketing authorisation from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), making Tanstrive available for eligible patients whose cancers are linked to specific alterations in the RET gene.
Targeted Therapy for RET-Altered Tumours
Tanstrive is engineered to offer a precision oncology approach, specifically targeting RET (Rearranged during Transfection) gene alterations. These genetic mutations can drive the growth of various advanced solid tumours. By selectively blocking abnormal signalling pathways associated with these alterations, Tanstrive aims to inhibit tumour progression and provide a more focused treatment option.
Winselow Tucker, President and General Manager of Eli Lilly and Company (India), emphasized the importance of this launch, stating, "As precision oncology continues to reshape cancer care, Tanstrive represents an important step forward -- expanding access to targeted therapies for patients in India." The introduction of Tanstrive is expected to broaden the array of treatment choices in the rapidly evolving field of personalized cancer medicine.
Pricing and Availability in India
The new cancer drug, Tanstrive, is available in India in tablet strengths of 40 mg, 80 mg, 120 mg, and 160 mg. Patients are administered the treatment orally, twice daily. Each box of Tanstrive is priced at ₹2.15 lakh and covers a 14-day treatment regimen, making it a substantial investment in advanced cancer care.
This launch underscores Eli Lilly's commitment to bringing innovative therapies to the Indian market, particularly in areas of high unmet medical need like advanced cancer treatment.
