· · 2 min read

Delta Corp shares surged nearly 19% on Monday, approaching a 52-week high, after reports confirmed a significant reduction in final GST demands. The casino operator's liabilities were cut from approximately Rs 16,000 crore to just Rs 117 crore.

Shares of Delta Corp Ltd. experienced a significant rally on Monday, climbing 19.33% to Rs 87.44 in afternoon trading. This surge propelled the stock close to its 52-week high of Rs 87.99, previously recorded on September 30, 2026.

The sharp increase in Delta Corp's stock price followed reports indicating a substantial reduction in the company's Goods and Services Tax (GST) demands. Originally, Delta Corp and its two subsidiaries had faced show-cause notices for an approximate Rs 16,000 crore in GST. However, the combined final GST demands have been drastically lowered to roughly Rs 117 crore, providing significant relief to the casino and gaming operator.

Gaming Sector Awaits Further Clarity on GST

The broader real-money gaming (RMG) sector is closely monitoring ongoing developments regarding disputed tax demands. The Supreme Court has set October 14 as a deadline for pending adjudication proceedings, which could provide further clarity for the industry.

In a related move, a coalition of nearly a dozen RMG founders has appealed to the GST Council, seeking relief from potential personal liabilities associated with the disputed tax demands. The industry has also urged the Council to consider utilizing Section 11A of the GST Act to waive the contested dues.

The gaming industry is keenly anticipating the outcome of the GST Council's meeting scheduled for October 7, hoping for resolutions on tax relief and liability-related issues.
