The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has announced an extension for the payment deadline of flats allotted under its premium Towering Heights project in Karkardooma. Buyers now have until June 30, 2026, to make payments for units secured through both the 2025 e-auction and the 2026 first-come, first-served (FCFS) housing schemes.
This decision, outlined in a circular issued on April 30, 2026, provides significant relief to allottees. The DDA cited delays in obtaining necessary statutory approvals, which are estimated to take 30 to 45 days from the project's physical completion. Additionally, numerous buyers had submitted representations requesting more time, as the expected physical possession date is likely to extend beyond the initially scheduled July 2026.
In a further financial concession, the DDA has confirmed an interest-free payment window until June 30, 2026. This applies to all dues that were originally payable on or before March 31, 2026, and subsequently extended to April 30, 2026. Payments made between July 1 and July 30, 2026, will incur interest at a rate of 10% per annum. The authority has clarified that no further extensions will be granted beyond July 30.
About the Towering Heights Project
The Towering Heights development is a landmark initiative by the DDA. It initially offered 1,026 premium 2BHK apartments via e-auction, with base reserve prices ranging from ₹1.8 crore to ₹3.1 crore. Under the Karkardooma Housing Scheme 2026, an additional 741 flats were made available to individual buyers on an FCFS basis, while 107 units were reserved for bulk allotment to government institutions.
This project marks the DDA's first development under Delhi's Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) policy. Located in East Delhi’s Karkardooma area, Towering Heights features a 48-storey residential tower that rises to 155 meters, making it the tallest residential structure in the national capital. The project is being developed under the supervision of NBCC.
The larger East Delhi Hub, spanning 30 hectares, is envisioned as a mixed-use urban center, integrating residential, commercial, and civic infrastructure around a metro transit hub. The Towering Heights project boasts excellent connectivity, situated adjacent to the Karkardooma Interchange Metro Station, which connects the Blue and Pink Lines. It also offers convenient access to NH-9 and NH-24 and is close to the Anand Vihar ISBT and railway station.
