Mitra notes that while a cafeteria meal might average ₹72, adding coffee, snacks, and app-based food deliveries can triple or quadruple daily costs.

The convenience offered by food delivery apps and on-site options, particularly for Gen Z and younger millennials, is a primary driver of these rising daily office lunch costs. Workplace food has evolved beyond mere sustenance; it's now intertwined with productivity, social interactions, and stress management, making employees more prone to spending without tracking the cumulative impact.
