BMW India has officially unveiled its new 7 Series lineup, featuring both petrol and electric powertrains, with prices starting at Rs 1.95 crore (ex-showroom). A significant highlight is the local production of the BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport electric sedan at BMW Group Plant Chennai, making India the sole country outside Germany to manufacture the electric 7 Series. Deliveries for these locally assembled models are slated to commence in October 2026.

Local Production Marks a Global Milestone
The decision to locally produce the i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport electric sedan underscores BMW's commitment to the Indian market and positions the country as a strategic manufacturing hub. This move is expected to enhance availability and potentially streamline future electric vehicle offerings in the region.

The new 7 Series boasts a thoroughly redesigned exterior, embodying BMW's latest luxury-class design philosophy. Key aesthetic elements include an illuminated BMW Iconic Glow Kidney Grille, BMW Individual crystal headlights adorned with Swarovski glass, seamlessly flush-fitting door handles, and contemporary rear light designs. Adaptive LED headlights, featuring a matrix high beam with a range of up to 600 meters, are standard across the range.
Advanced Cabin Technology
Inside, the cabin is a hub of innovation, equipped with BMW Panoramic iDrive, the intuitive BMW Operating System X, and BMW Panoramic Vision, which intelligently projects vital information across the lower section of the windscreen. A large 17.9-inch central display and a new 14.6-inch BMW Passenger Screen come standard, ensuring an immersive digital experience for all occupants.

Rear passengers are treated to an unparalleled luxury experience with Executive Lounge seats and a massive 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen. The new 7 Series offers a variety of robust powertrain options:
- BMW 740 M Sport (Petrol): This variant is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 400 hp and 540 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h.
- BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive (Electric, Local Production): Generating 455 hp and 660 Nm, this electric sedan features a 112.5 kWh battery, offering a claimed WLTP range of up to 728 km. It can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, with a top speed of 210 km/h.
- BMW i7 M70 xDrive (Electric, CBU): The top-tier electric model utilizes two motors to produce a formidable 680 hp and up to 1,100 Nm of torque. It achieves 0-100 km/h in a swift 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h, with a claimed WLTP range of 686 km.
Efficient Charging Solutions
The BMW i7 supports rapid charging, capable of going from 10-80% in just 28 minutes using a 250 kW DC charger, which can add up to 235 km of range in only 10 minutes. A full charge with a 22 kW AC charger takes approximately six hours. Buyers of the BMW i7 also receive a complimentary BMW Wallbox charger, including installation.
Enhanced Driver Assistance Systems
The new 7 Series is equipped with advanced driver assistance features such as Parking Assistant Professional, which includes remote parking functionality via a smartphone, and Reversing Assistant Professional. The i7 models further benefit from Driving Assistant Plus, offering active cruise control, steering and lane-control assistance, and blind-spot monitoring for enhanced safety and convenience.
Customers can choose from an array of exterior colors, including Tanzanite Blue, Carbon Black, Mineral White, Oxide Grey, and Vancouver Green. The i7 M70 variant also offers exclusive frozen paint options.
