Bharti Airtel reported a 30.86% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹8,887.5 crore for Q2 FY27, driven by strong growth in India and Africa. The telecom major's average revenue per user (ARPU) also climbed to ₹271.

New Delhi – Telecom giant Bharti Airtel Ltd announced a significant surge in its consolidated net profit for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. The company reported a 30.86% year-on-year increase, reaching ₹8,887.5 crore, up from ₹6,791.7 crore in the same period last year. This robust performance was largely attributed to strong growth across its India and Africa business segments.

Revenue and Key Metrics Show Strong Growth

Bharti Airtel's revenue from operations for Q2 FY27 rose by 16.7% year-on-year, totaling ₹60,878 crore. The India business alone contributed ₹42,308 crore, marking a 9.4% increase. This growth was fueled by the company's premiumization strategy for its mobile portfolio, alongside consistent momentum in its Homes and Airtel Business divisions.

A key indicator of profitability, Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), saw a healthy climb to ₹271, up from ₹256 in the prior-year quarter. The company also reported impressive customer additions, with 18.8 million new smartphone data customers year-on-year, and 2.9 million added sequentially within the quarter. Smartphone data users now constitute 81% of Airtel’s total mobile customer base.

Segment Performance and Future Outlook

  • Mobile Segment: In addition to smartphone data user growth, Airtel recorded 1.2 million postpaid net additions, marking its strongest performance in this category for a single quarter. Mobile data usage also saw a substantial increase of 36.5% year-on-year, with consumption averaging 36.5 GB per customer per month.
  • Homes Business: This segment continued its growth trajectory, adding 3.4 million net customers year-on-year.

Gopal Vittal, Executive Vice Chairman at Airtel, commented on the company's strategic expansion. He highlighted a significant investment in a land parcel, an important step towards achieving Airtel's ambition of building 1 GW of data center capacity. Vittal also noted encouraging early traction in Financial Services following its commercial launch, attributing success to digital platforms, advanced data analytics, and a disciplined operating model. He reiterated the company's commitment to maintaining a strong balance sheet through robust cash generation and disciplined capital allocation.

The quarterly earnings were announced after market hours on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Earlier in the day, Bharti Airtel shares closed at ₹2,062.05 on the BSE, experiencing a slight dip of 0.19%.
