Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), a prominent Navratna defence public sector undertaking, is set to announce its first-quarter results today. Analysts are largely optimistic, projecting healthy growth in net profit and sales for the June quarter, driven by robust order execution and a strong pipeline.
BEL Q1 Forecasts Point to Robust Growth
Consensus estimates from Bloomberg suggest BEL could report a net profit of Rs 1,086 crore for Q1, with net sales reaching Rs 5,108 crore. The company's EBITDA is pegged at Rs 1,421 crore for the same period.
Individual brokerage firms echo this positive sentiment. Antique Stock Broking estimates BEL's net profit to climb 8.8% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 1,053.90 crore, with sales increasing 16.4% YoY to Rs 5,139.20 crore. Nuvama Institutional Equities forecasts a 9.7% YoY rise in net profit to Rs 1,063 crore, on an 11.6% YoY revenue increase to Rs 4,930 crore. MOFSL anticipates a 16.1% YoY surge in net profit to Rs 1,124 crore, alongside a 15.6% YoY growth in net sales to Rs 5,107.20 crore.
Analysts Maintain Positive Outlook, Set Ambitious Target Price
Ahead of the results, analyst sentiment remains predominantly positive. The scrip has garnered 28 'Buy' recommendations, one 'Hold', and three 'Sell' ratings. The consensus target price for BEL's stock is set at Rs 490, indicating a potential upside of 21% from current levels.
Nuvama highlights BEL's substantial order backlog of Rs 74,000 crore, which provides strong medium-term revenue visibility. They expect margins to remain structurally healthy at around 28%, supported by operational efficiencies and increasing localization efforts.
Key Drivers and Future Order Pipeline
Investors will be keenly watching for updates on several large orders, including the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) program, Uttam radars, next-generation corvettes, and P75I submarines. Analysts also emphasize the significance of progress on the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program.
The Rs 30,000 crore QRSAM program, for which the Indian Army has already floated a tender, is expected to materialize soon and could act as a key re-rating catalyst for the stock. MOFSL points to the finalization of new orders, efficient execution of the existing backlog, an incremental share of exports, and further indigenization of modules and subsystems as crucial focus areas for BEL's future growth.
While Kotak Institutional Equities noted a 54% YoY decline in order inflows for the June quarter, attributing it to an unfavorable base, they model a healthy 28.2% EBITDA margin for Q1FY27, acknowledging that quarterly variations are a function of product mix.
