· · 2 min read

Bajaj Finance shares jumped 5% today after the NBFC reported robust Q2 business updates, including a 26.5% AUM increase. The board also approved plans to raise up to ₹17,500 crore through QIP and warrant issues, fueling investor confidence.

Shares of Bajaj Finance Ltd, India's largest non-banking financial company (NBFC), saw a significant rally today, rising 5% in early trading on the BSE to ₹995.40. This surge positioned the stock as a top gainer on both the Nifty and Sensex, boosting its market capitalization to ₹6.18 lakh crore.

Strong Q2 Business Performance Fuels Optimism

The primary driver behind today's Bajaj Finance stock rally was the company's release of its robust second-quarter business updates. As of September 30, 2026, the Pune-based financial institution reported an impressive 26.5% year-on-year jump in its Assets Under Management (AUM), reaching ₹5.85 lakh crore, up from ₹4.62 lakh crore in the same period last year.

Further enhancing investor confidence, Bajaj Finance expanded its customer franchise to 128.85 million, a notable increase from 110.64 million in the previous cycle. New loans booked also saw an 11% rise, totaling 13.45 million compared to 12.17 million a year ago. The company's deposit book stood strong at ₹69,750 crore as of the end of Q2.

Strategic Fundraising Initiatives Approved

Adding to the positive sentiment, Bajaj Finance's board of directors approved proposals to raise a substantial sum of up to ₹17,500 crore. This capital infusion will be achieved through a combination of a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) and a preferential issue of warrants. The preferential issue of warrants alone is slated to raise up to ₹5,800 crore.

Market Impact and Share Trajectory

Today's 5% gain marks a significant recovery for Bajaj Finance shares, which had previously fallen to a 52-week low of ₹788.40 on March 23. With this latest upswing, the stock has now climbed 26% from that low. Over a broader timeframe, the company's shares have delivered a 20% return in the last six months and a 38% gain over two years. Despite the current rally, the stock is still trading below its various short- and long-term moving averages, indicating potential for further upside.
