Shares of Baazar Style Retail Ltd experienced a significant rally, extending their winning streak for a fourth consecutive session. On Wednesday, the stock climbed as much as 5 percent, hitting an intraday high of Rs 423.80 on the BSE. This impressive performance translates to a 21.52 percent gain over just four trading sessions, bringing the stock close to its record high of Rs 426.85, established on May 13, 2025.
Halwasiya's Strategic Investment Fuels Rally
The primary catalyst for this recent surge is the acquisition of a substantial stake in Baazar Style Retail by Aditya Kumar Halwasiya, the Chairman and Managing Director of Cupid Ltd. According to exchange data released on Tuesday, Halwasiya purchased 45 lakh shares, which represents a 5.91 percent stake in the retail firm.
Market Activity and Promoter Exits
While Halwasiya was buying, several promoters of Baazar Style Retail offloaded their holdings. Shreyans Surana and Sidharth Surana sold 21 lakh and 9 lakh shares, respectively. Bhagwan Prasad divested 15 lakh shares, and Rajendra Kumar Gupta HUF sold 1 lakh shares. Additionally, BSE data on Tuesday, August 18, showed bulk deals involving Mansi Share and Stock Broking Pvt Ltd, which sold 43 shares at Rs 403.21 apiece and simultaneously acquired 4,15,002 shares at Rs 403.11 apiece.
Halwasiya's investment in Baazar Style Retail has garnered considerable attention, particularly given his ongoing strategy of increasing his personal holding in Cupid Ltd, which has now reached 33.45 percent.
Baazar Style Retail's Network Expansion
Baazar Style Retail, known for operating the Style Baazar chain, maintains a strong presence across eastern India. The company recently announced the opening of a new store at PS Road in Bolpur, West Bengal. Concurrently, it closed its Style Baazar store in Raiganj. Following these adjustments, the company's total store network stands at 276 outlets.
Deeper Connection with Cupid Ltd
This latest stake purchase by Halwasiya builds upon a pre-existing strategic arrangement between Baazar Style Retail and Cupid Ltd. In January 2026, Baazar Style Retail's board approved the issuance of 1.01 crore fully convertible equity warrants to Cupid. These warrants were priced at Rs 328.25 each, totaling an aggregate of Rs 331.53 crore. Upon conversion, Cupid is set to acquire an 11.92 percent stake in Baazar Style Retail, a partnership specifically designed to leverage Baazar Style Retail's extensive retail network for expanding Cupid's FMCG distribution capabilities.
