Aludecor CMD: Sustainability is Our Core Mindset, Not Cosmetic

· · 2 min read

Aludecor CMD Ashok Kumar Bhaiya emphasizes that sustainability is fundamental to their manufacturing operations. The company has invested significantly in modernizing machines, reducing water consumption by 30%, and implementing robust waste recycling.

Kolkata, India — Aludecor, a prominent manufacturer of aluminium products, views sustainability not as a superficial add-on but as an ingrained philosophy, according to its CMD, Ashok Kumar Bhaiya. Speaking to Business Today TV, Bhaiya detailed the company's extensive efforts and investments in eco-friendly manufacturing practices over recent years.

Investing in Green Operations

Bhaiya highlighted that over the past five to seven years, Aludecor has made substantial investments in modernizing and upgrading its machinery. This strategic move was primarily aimed at significantly reducing energy consumption across its production facilities. The company continually seeks ways to optimize resource use, striving to achieve more with fewer inputs.

A core aspect of Aludecor's sustainability strategy is its robust approach to waste management. The company implements backward integration, ensuring that all internally generated waste is recycled and reused within its own processes or sent to partner manufacturers for reincorporation into their production cycles. Any remaining waste is responsibly recycled through third-party partners, ensuring minimal environmental impact.

Process Innovation and Resource Efficiency

Aludecor prides itself on maintaining environmentally benign manufacturing processes. Bhaiya confirmed that the company avoids any acidic or alkaline treatments in its operations. Furthermore, focused efforts on water conservation have yielded remarkable results, with Aludecor successfully reducing its water consumption by nearly 30% over the last five years.

The company has also made significant strides in sustainable sourcing. What was once a reliance on imported raw materials has shifted dramatically, with 95-98% of its raw materials now sourced domestically within India. This localized procurement strategy not only supports the national economy but also contributes to reduced transportation emissions, enhancing overall supply chain sustainability. Aludecor has also forged a partnership with Northern Netherland for the import of a highly sustainable raw material, demonstrating a commitment to global best practices.

Responsible Innovation at the Core

For Aludecor, innovation extends beyond product aesthetics and ease of application; it is fundamentally linked to responsibility. Bhaiya explained that their innovation efforts are channeled into developing machines and processes that minimize wastage, eliminate human error, enhance material efficiency, and ultimately lead to greater production efficiencies and energy savings. This holistic approach underscores Aludecor’s belief that true progress in manufacturing must be inherently sustainable.
