One devotee has died and several others were injured following a tragic incident during the annual Puri Rath Yatra on Thursday. The event, which draws lakhs of pilgrims, saw a stampede-like situation erupt on the Bada Danda (Grand Road) as devotees gathered to witness the sacred chariot procession.
The deceased pilgrim reportedly collapsed due to suffocation amidst the densely packed crowd. Emergency services were quickly alerted, and the individual was rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital, where medical professionals declared them dead upon arrival.
