A Legacy of Innovation: The Nobel Prize History

The Nobel Prizes were established through the 1895 will of Alfred Nobel, the Swedish inventor, chemist, and industrialist. The first awards were presented in 1901, five years after Nobel's death, with the inaugural ceremony taking place on December 10, 1901. The Nobel Foundation, established in 1900, continues to manage Nobel's assets, ensuring the financial stability and independence of the selecting bodies.
