Mumbai Minister Responds After Woman Confronts Him Over Protest Traffic

· · 2 min read

Maharashtra BJP Minister Girish Mahajan addressed a viral video where a woman confronted him over traffic jams caused by a party protest in Worli, Mumbai. Mahajan acknowledged public inconvenience but defended the march.

Maharashtra Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Girish Mahajan has responded to a viral video showing a woman confronting him over severe traffic congestion in Worli, Mumbai. The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 22, 2026, during a BJP protest march concerning the Women's Reservation Bill.

Minister Acknowledges Inconvenience Amidst Protest

Speaking on Wednesday, Mahajan acknowledged that such political movements are "bound to cause inconvenience" on the roads. "Every movement causes some difficulty," he stated, recalling past large-scale demonstrations.

Mahajan also claimed the protesting woman used "unparliamentary language" against police personnel and reportedly threw bottles at protestors. He recounted personally apologizing to her for the delay and assuring her that roads would be cleared within ten minutes. "However, I think she was angry, which is natural. I don't deny it. Still, I feel the language used by the lady was very inappropriate," Mahajan added.

Woman's Frustration Over Traffic Jam

The woman, reportedly on her way to pick up her child from school, exited her vehicle to confront the minister and police. In the widely circulated video, she is heard telling Mahajan, "Get out of here. You are causing a traffic jam," and questioned why the protest could not be held in a nearby empty ground instead of blocking public roads.

She further challenged the organizers about the traffic blockade and the disruption faced by the public, demanding that vehicles be allowed to move. When a police officer attempted to intervene, she emphatically asked not to be spoken to.

The BJP's protest march was organized by women against the Congress party regarding the Women's Reservation Bill, involving thousands of participants, which contributed to the significant road blockage in Worli.
