Pune police investigating the alleged murder of realtor Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort revealed that the two arrested suspects, Siya Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary, initially attempted to blame each other during interrogation. This tactic, common in joint conspiracy cases, was eventually overcome by compelling evidence.
Investigation Uncovers Conspiracy
According to police officials, Siya Goyal eventually confessed to orchestrating the conspiracy, with Chetan Chaudhary also involved in the planning. The 25-year-old businessman, Ketan Agarwal, died on June 18 after being pushed into a gorge during a trek at Lohagad Fort with his fiancée, Siya.
The probe indicated that the alleged murder plot was discussed during a meeting between Siya and Chetan at a cafe on June 17, just one day before Agarwal's death. CCTV footage reviewed by investigators showed the pair entering the cafe around 4:35 PM and leaving about an hour later. During this meeting, police suspect Siya shared details about Lohagad Fort, having researched the location via YouTube videos.
Evidence Leads to Arrests
The case, initially registered as an accidental death, took a critical turn when police found inconsistencies in Siya's account. Further analysis of CCTV footage, digital evidence, and other collected material led investigators to reclassify it as a murder probe.
Crucially, footage showed a hooded man near Siya and Ketan on the Lohagad Fort trail. This individual was later identified as Chetan Chaudhary. Questioning of both Siya and Chetan, combined with the other evidence, convinced authorities that Ketan's fall was not accidental but a premeditated act.
Police suspect Siya, who was reportedly in a relationship with Chetan, did not wish to marry Ketan. The couple had become engaged earlier this year and were planning a November wedding.
