Vishal Agarwal, the grieving father of 25-year-old Ketan Agarwal, has issued a heartfelt public appeal to individuals who were present at Lohagad Fort on June 18, the day his son was allegedly murdered. Agarwal stated that some witnesses have privately contacted his family but have not yet officially approached the police. He assured potential witnesses they would face no issues if they came forward to help secure justice for Ketan.
Family Demands Justice and Wider Investigation
The appeal was made during a candlelight march held on Saturday evening outside Belmondo Society in Pune, where hundreds gathered to support Ketan's family. The march underscored the family's profound grief and growing anger over the incident.
Ketan's grandfather, Devichand Agarwal, addressed the gathering, expressing a deep sense of betrayal and demanding capital punishment for the accused. He also urged the police to broaden their investigation to include all individuals involved in arranging Ketan's marriage. Ketan's mother echoed the demand for capital punishment for the accused duo and called for action against Siya Goyal's family members.
A relative questioned why Siya Goyal, Ketan's fiancée, did not express her reluctance earlier, stating that all details about Ketan were disclosed to her family during marriage discussions. The family emphasized their singular focus on achieving justice for their son.
Police Continue Interrogations and Gather Evidence
Authorities allege that Siya Goyal, 20, and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary, 22, conspired to kill Ketan because Siya wished to avoid their arranged marriage, scheduled for November. Police have been actively questioning those connected to the case.
- Siya Goyal's parents, Praveen and Pooja Goyal, underwent several hours of questioning on Saturday.
- Her brother, Sahil, was reportedly interrogated for nearly ten hours a day prior.
Siya's mother has denied allegations that her family pressured her daughter into the marriage. Deputy Superintendent of Police Gajanan Tompe confirmed that investigators found evidence of signals exchanged between Siya and Chetan shortly before Ketan was allegedly pushed from the cliff. Chetan's mobile phone has been seized for forensic analysis to uncover any deleted data. Police have also refuted earlier reports suggesting that Ketan's use of a hair patch was a primary motive for the alleged murder plot.
Ketan's family has vowed to continue their pursuit of justice and expressed gratitude to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for promising a speedy trial and appointing senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam as the public prosecutor in the case.
