Israel: Iran Plans Multi-Front Assault with Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis

· · 2 min read

Israeli intelligence indicates Iran is orchestrating a multi-front assault on Israel, coordinating with Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, and Iraqi militias. The alleged plan aims for simultaneous attacks to increase pressure, prompting Israel to launch its "Dawn 2.0" exercise.

Israeli intelligence suggests Iran is actively coordinating with regional allies for a simultaneous, multi-front attack against Israel. This alleged strategy involves Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, Houthi rebels in Yemen, and pro-Iranian militias in Iraq.

The reported plan seeks to overcome coordination failures observed during the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack, when other fronts did not activate concurrently. Tehran's goal is to ensure multiple fronts operate against Israel from the outset, a central element of its "Axis of Resistance" strategy.

Signs of this renewed coordination include joint training exercises, strengthened operational and personal connections, and greater alignment on political and military decisions among these groups. Senior officials from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), particularly the Quds Force, have reportedly held conference calls and meetings with commanders from these proxy forces to discuss expanding confrontations.

Furthermore, intelligence assessments suggest the IRGC is ramping up drone and missile production to replenish stocks depleted in previous engagements with Israel and the United States. Concurrently, Hezbollah and Hamas are said to be intensifying their collaboration to exert simultaneous pressure on Israel from both northern and southern borders.

In response to these escalating threats, Israel is bolstering its defensive readiness. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) initiated the “Dawn 2.0” exercise on September 6. This drill aims to test military preparedness, with increased movement of aircraft and ground forces expected nationwide, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming October 7 anniversary.

The timing of the exercise, announced just one day after reports surfaced regarding Iran’s alleged multi-front planning, underscores the heightened alert levels within Israeli defense circles and the urgent focus on countering potential coordinated attacks.
