· · 2 min read

Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory for September 13, 2026, due to the India-Afghanistan T20 match at Arun Jaitley Stadium coinciding with the BRICS Summit. Expect extensive road restrictions and parking changes from 2 PM to 11:45 PM in central Delhi.

Commuters in Delhi should prepare for significant traffic restrictions and diversions on September 13, 2026. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive advisory as the India-Afghanistan T20 International cricket match at Arun Jaitley Stadium coincides with the BRICS 2026 Summit.

The T20 match is scheduled from 7 PM to 11:30 PM, but traffic restrictions will be in effect from 2 PM to 11:45 PM, impacting several key routes in the city. The BRICS Summit, taking place on September 12 and 13, necessitates heightened security and VVIP movement, contributing to the traffic management challenges.

Key Traffic Restrictions and Diversions

Traffic diversions and restrictions are anticipated on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, DDU Marg, Mirdard Chowk, and JLN Marg. These routes will experience altered traffic flow during the specified hours. Additionally, the movement of goods vehicles will be restricted on designated stretches of Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg, and DDU Marg.

Spectators attending the match and general commuters are strongly advised to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid travel through the stadium area if possible. Increased congestion is expected as BRICS delegates, security convoys, and cricket fans navigate central Delhi.

Stadium Access and Parking Information

Spectators must adhere to designated entry points for the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Gates 1-8 are accessible from Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, while Gates 10-15 can be reached from JLN Marg near the Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal. Gates 16-18 are located on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg near the petrol pump.

For parking, free facilities and 'Park & Ride' options will be available at Mata Sundari Road, Rajghat Power House Road, and Velodrome Road. General spectator parking will not be permitted near the stadium without valid parking labels. Parking will also be prohibited along Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, DDU Marg, Mirdard Chowk, JLN Marg, and the Ring Road from Rajghat to IP Flyover.

Taxi and Ride-Share Guidelines

App-based taxi services will have specific pick-up and drop-off points. These will be allowed only at Gate No. 2 near Maulana Azad Medical College on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and at Rajghat Chowk. Passengers are urged not to stop vehicles on the main carriageways to avoid obstructing traffic flow.

The Delhi Traffic Police urges all commuters to follow the directions of traffic personnel and plan their travel well in advance to mitigate inconvenience on September 13.
