NEW DELHI – The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has called for a major protest march in Delhi on September 5, accusing the government of reneging on commitments made to young protesters. The march is slated to proceed peacefully from India Gate to the Delhi Police Headquarters.
Families of individuals who died during the NEET examinations and victims of alleged police brutality are expected to lead the demonstration, with students and other young people joining in solidarity. The CJP asserts that the government has failed to uphold promises made on July 25, which led to the withdrawal of nationwide youth protests.
Government Accused of Delay and Betrayal
The decision for the protest was finalized during a meeting of the CJP's National Working Committee. The committee expressed profound doubts regarding the government's sincerity in implementing the commitments.
"For a month now, instead of implementing what was solemnly promised, the Government has played delay games, hidden behind technicalities, and avoided giving clear commitments even before the Supreme Court of India," the CJP stated.
The party highlighted that the Supreme Court, during an August 18 hearing, had repeatedly pressed the Union government to provide a list of First Information Reports (FIRs) registered across the country against protesters, with a view to potentially quashing these cases. According to the CJP, the government did not offer a definitive commitment to do so, and a promised written assurance to the party remains outstanding.
Call to Action for Young Citizens
The CJP emphasized that their patience should not be misinterpreted as weakness and that their good faith should not be exploited. The party claims that the youth of the country, particularly Gen-Z, and families who have lost children, feel betrayed – a sentiment they describe as 'vishwasghaat'.
Students, youth organizations, and young citizens are urged to assemble at India Gate on September 5. The CJP affirmed that the protest will remain peaceful, with the families of victims and those affected by police brutality at the forefront, followed by a generation demanding accountability: "KEEP YOUR WORD."
