CJP Presents Three Key Demands to Government
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) met with BJP president JP Nadda at his residence to convey three urgent demands amidst intensifying nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. The meeting took place on Monday, with CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka confirming the delegation's interaction with Nadda.
Calls for Minister's Resignation and Student Compensation
Among the primary demands, the CJP called for the immediate removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, branding him as "incompetent." The party insisted that if not removed, his resignation should be promptly accepted to address public outrage.
Furthermore, the CJP demanded a compensation of ₹1 crore for the families of students who reportedly died by suicide in the wake of the alleged NEET paper leak, highlighting the severe emotional toll the controversy has taken on young aspirants.
Demand for Sonam Wangchuk's Release
The third demand centered on the immediate release of activist Sonam Wangchuk. Wangchuk, who had been on a hunger strike and was subsequently admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, had also sought permission to temporarily leave the hospital to join the Parliament march. The CJP urged that he be allowed to address the public through a video message.
Widespread Protests Rock Delhi
The CJP's demands were made against a backdrop of large-scale student and youth protests across central Delhi. Thousands marched towards Parliament, leading to significant clashes with security personnel at various locations, including Constitution Club, Patel Chowk, and Parliament Street. Protesters, some in school uniforms, attempted to breach police barricades, resulting in police using tear gas and lathi charges to disperse the crowds.
Reports indicated several injuries among both protesters and police personnel. The CJP also claimed that its founder, Abhijeet Dipke, was detained by Delhi Police during the agitation. Security was heavily tightened across the New Delhi district, with additional police and paramilitary forces deployed, and internet services suspended in parts of the area as a precautionary measure. These protests also disrupted parliamentary proceedings, with both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha experiencing adjournments due to Opposition protests supporting the student agitation.
Nadda Assures Discussion with Leadership
Following the meeting, CJP spokesperson Ranka stated that JP Nadda assured the delegation he would discuss their demands with the senior leadership of the party. Nadda reportedly committed to communicating their decision "soon," though no immediate assurances or commitments were made regarding the fulfillment of the demands.
