The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is preparing to release the much-anticipated Class 12 board examination results for 2026. With over 18 lakh students having appeared for the exams this year, the announcement is a significant event for students, parents, and educational institutions nationwide.
The Class 12 board exams were conducted from February 17, 2026, to April 10, 2026. The board anticipates an earlier declaration of results compared to previous years, largely due to the implementation of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, which has reportedly streamlined the evaluation process.
How to Access Your CBSE Class 12 Scores
Once declared, students will have multiple convenient platforms to access their CBSE Class 12 results 2026. To ensure smooth access and avoid delays caused by high website traffic, the CBSE will make scores available through various online and digital services.
- Official Websites: Results will be published on cbse.gov.in, results.cbse.nic.in, and cbse.nic.in.
- DigiLocker: Students can access their digital mark sheets and certificates via the DigiLocker platform.
- UMANG App: The UMANG mobile application will also provide access to results.
- SMS Services: Results can be obtained through designated SMS services.
- IVRS & SMS Organizer App: Additional options include Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) and the SMS Organizer app.
Students are advised to keep their essential credentials ready, including their roll number, school number, and admit card ID, to quickly check their scores once the result links are activated.
CBSE Passing Criteria and Provisional Marksheets
As per CBSE regulations, students must achieve a minimum of 33% marks in each subject to be declared successful. For subjects that include both theoretical and practical components, students must clear both sections independently, securing at least 33% in each. This prevents compensatory passing where a strong performance in one component makes up for a weak one in another.
Upon result declaration, a provisional marksheet will be available for download online. This digital copy serves immediate purposes, such as college admissions. Original mark sheets and certificates will be subsequently issued by the respective schools.
Post-Result Options and Further Updates
Alongside the Class 12 results, CBSE is expected to release comprehensive performance data. This typically includes the overall pass percentage, gender-wise and region-wise performance statistics, and the total number of students who appeared and qualified. Details regarding toppers may also be released.
For students who may not be satisfied with their marks or identify any discrepancies, the CBSE will provide options for verification, rechecking, or re-evaluation. Detailed guidelines, including application fees and deadlines, are expected to be announced shortly after the results are declared. Students should regularly monitor official CBSE websites for the latest updates and notifications.
