· · 2 min read

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested former judge Giribala Singh, mother-in-law of actor-model Twisha Sharma, in connection with Sharma's death. The arrest follows the quashing of Singh's anticipatory bail by the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken former judge Giribala Singh into custody following the death of actor-model Twisha Sharma. Singh, who is Sharma's mother-in-law, was arrested after the Madhya Pradesh High Court rejected her plea for anticipatory bail just a day prior, emphasizing the necessity of custodial interrogation in the ongoing investigation.

According to the CBI, Giribala Singh is accused of actively working to discredit the character of the 33-year-old actor-model. The agency has also leveled serious allegations against Twisha Sharma's in-laws, including dowry harassment, forcing her to undergo a pregnancy termination, and attempts to tamper with evidence related to her death.

Unexplained Injuries and Allegations

Investigators highlighted that injuries discovered on Twisha Sharma's body remain unexplained by her in-laws. The CBI informed the Madhya Pradesh High Court that Sharma had sustained injuries to her wrist and elbow, and a medical report clarified that these injuries could not have occurred during the removal of the body from a ligature.

These submissions came in response to questions raised regarding injury marks detailed in Twisha Sharma’s post-mortem report. The agency further presented evidence from WhatsApp chats recovered during the investigation. These communications allegedly show that Giribala Singh and Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, harbored doubts about the actor-model's character after she became pregnant.

Forced Abortion Claims

A particularly grave allegation from the CBI states that Twisha Sharma was coerced into undergoing an abortion. This reportedly occurred after accusations were made that the child she was carrying belonged to someone other than her husband. The investigation into the full circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma's tragic death continues.
