BJP Accuses Kejriwal of 'Sheesh Mahal 2' Amid AAP Defections

· · 2 min read

BJP leader Parvesh Verma accused Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal of living in a lavish 'Sheesh Mahal 2' bungalow. The allegations follow multiple high-profile resignations from the Aam Aadmi Party, including Raghav Chadha, prompting questions about public funds.

New Delhi – A fresh political storm has erupted in Delhi as BJP leader Parvesh Verma launched a scathing attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Verma claimed that Kejriwal is now residing in a luxurious 'Sheesh Mahal 2', questioning the source of funds for such an opulent residence.

The accusations come just a day after several prominent AAP members, including Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, and Sandeep Pathak, reportedly resigned from the party to join the BJP. Verma labeled AAP the "Alishaan Aadmi Party" (Luxurious Common Man's Party), contrasting it with its founding principles of austerity.

Allegations of Lavish Living

During a press conference, Verma challenged Kejriwal to disclose the investment in the alleged 'Sheesh Mahal 2' and a bungalow at 95 Lodhi Estate. "Will Kejriwal tell us how much money has been invested in the Lodhi Road bungalow or the new Sheesh Mahal? Where did the money come from, and whose money is it?" Verma demanded.

He further criticized Kejriwal by highlighting that the construction of the original 'Sheesh Mahal' allegedly continued uninterrupted during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Delhi, a time when citizens struggled with medical supplies and hospital beds. Verma claimed that honest workers are abandoning AAP due to Kejriwal's perceived "greed" and shift away from the common man's image he once projected.

Impact of Recent Defections

Verma linked the allegations directly to the recent exodus of AAP leaders. He suggested that the party's focus on lavish spending, rather than governance, was alienating its cadre. Chadha, a prominent Rajya Sabha MP, along with six other MPs, reportedly merged with the BJP, signaling a significant blow to AAP's national ambitions.

The BJP leader also touched upon Kejriwal's influence in Punjab, alleging that the Delhi CM has complicated matters for Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Verma claimed Kejriwal occupies one of the large government houses surrounding Mann's residence, further distancing himself from the image of a common man.

These allegations intensify the political rivalry between the BJP and AAP, particularly in the wake of significant defections that have reshaped the political landscape for India's youngest national party.
