· · 2 min read

British adventurer Bear Grylls praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as one of the 'most powerful leaders in the world' in a recent social media post. Grylls shared a throwback photo with Modi from their 2019 'Man vs Wild' episode, alongside images of Barack Obama and Prince William, reflecting on impactful leadership.

British adventurer and television personality Bear Grylls has publicly lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, designating him among the world's most powerful leaders. In a social media post, Grylls reflected on the global figures he has encountered throughout his career, sharing a poignant observation on leadership.

On Tuesday, Grylls posted a series of photographs on X (formerly Twitter), featuring himself with PM Modi, former US President Barack Obama, and Britain's Prince William. Accompanying the images, he wrote, "I've met some of the most powerful leaders in the world. The best ones were never the loudest." The post quickly garnered significant attention online, prompting many to recall Grylls' memorable wilderness adventure with PM Modi.

The Man vs Wild Episode with PM Modi

The shared image with PM Modi was a throwback to a special episode of Grylls' globally popular survival series, "Man vs Wild," filmed in 2019. The episode, which aired in 2020, saw Prime Minister Modi join Grylls in Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, marking the first time an Indian Prime Minister appeared on the show.

Ahead of its broadcast, PM Modi had expressed his motivation for participating. He stated, "For years, I have lived among nature, in the mountains and the forests. These years have a lasting impact on my life. So when I was asked about a special programme focusing on life beyond politics and that too in the midst of nature I was both intrigued and inclined to take part in it."

During the episode, PM Modi and Bear Grylls navigated forest trails and crossed a river on a makeshift raft. While the segment was a more moderated version compared to typical "Man vs Wild" challenges, the Prime Minister utilized the platform to advocate for environmental conservation and India's ancient philosophy of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (the whole world is one family), urging global efforts to protect nature for future generations.
