Mahendra Kumar Yadav, an auto-rickshaw driver from Uttar Pradesh, spent nearly two decades working in Mumbai to support his family and fund his children’s education. His dedication has now culminated in his son, Prabhat Kumar Yadav, securing a coveted MBBS seat at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow.
A Journey of Hard Work and Sacrifice
Prabhat, hailing from Devkipur village in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, achieved an All India Rank (AIR) of 3,864 in the highly competitive NEET UG 2026 examination. His remarkable score of 627 marks represents a significant improvement from his first attempt.
Living in a small chawl in Mumbai, Mahendra diligently sent his earnings home. These funds were crucial for Prabhat's studies, allowing him to pursue his aspiration of becoming a doctor. Prabhat's grandfather, Indra Bahadur Yadav, highlighted that this success is a testament to Mahendra's unwavering hard work and sacrifices.
From Village Preparation to Kota Coaching
Prabhat began his NEET preparation in his home village before moving to Kota, a renowned coaching hub. He received a 50 percent fee concession from ALLEN Career Institute, with his father covering the remaining fees through monthly payments.
In his initial NEET UG attempt, Prabhat scored 504 marks. Determined to improve, he took a drop year for intensive re-preparation. This strategic decision paid off handsomely, leading to his impressive score of 627 and a secure spot at KGMU.
Consistent Academic Excellence
Prabhat's academic record has been consistently strong throughout his schooling. He scored 89.44 percent in Class 10 and 83.44 percent in Class 12, laying a solid foundation for his medical ambitions.
