New Delhi, India – As the 18th BRICS Summit continues in the Indian capital, security measures have been drastically increased around key landmarks, including the iconic Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple. This heightened security is in response to anticipated visits by numerous foreign delegates attending the international event.
Intensified Security Protocols
Rajeev Kumar, DCP East District, confirmed the extensive security deployment, noting that the Akshardham Temple is not merely a religious site but a significant part of India's cultural heritage. “Several of the foreign delegates visiting the city are likely to visit Akshardham. So, we have tight security here,” Kumar stated, emphasizing the temple’s importance to both local and international visitors.
The security operation encompasses a wide array of measures. Patrols have been intensified, with additional personnel deployed both within and around the temple complex. Authorities are utilizing drones for aerial surveillance of the broader area, while two boats have been stationed on the nearby Yamuna River for continuous patrolling. To further bolster local arrangements, three companies and one platoon of outer forces have been brought in.
Coordinated Traffic Management
In addition to physical security, traffic management remains a critical component of the overall plan. The Delhi Traffic Police are working in close coordination with security agencies to facilitate the smooth movement of delegates while striving to minimize disruption for city residents. Kumar assured that efforts are being made to ensure public convenience amidst the high-security environment.
