Operation Sindoor: A Defining Moment
Air Marshal Bharti rose to national prominence in May 2025 when he became the Indian Air Force's representative during high-stakes tri-service press briefings on Operation Sindoor. Standing alongside Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai and Vice Admiral A N Pramod, he detailed India's robust military response to the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people, predominantly tourists.
Launched on May 7, 2025, Operation Sindoor saw Indian fighter jets execute precise strikes on nine terror infrastructure targets across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. These decisive aerial operations, planned and directed under Bharti's leadership as Director General Air Operations (DGAO), led to the elimination of at least 100 terrorists and a halt in hostilities by May 10, following hotline communications between military commanders of both nations.
The Kirana Hills Retort

During a briefing, when questioned about social media speculation regarding India striking Pakistan's heavily fortified Kirana Hills, believed to house nuclear installations, he delivered a now-famous sarcastic reply:
"Thank you for telling us that Kirana Hills houses some nuclear installations. We did not know about it. We have not hit Kirana Hills. I did not brief in my briefing yesterday."
He further emphasized the military's unwavering focus, stating, "Our fight was against terrorism and terrorists. That is why, on May 7, we targeted only terrorist hideouts. Unfortunately, the Pakistani military chose to support the terrorists and made this fight their own."
