Direct Browser Calling Features
The web-based calling experience mirrors its app counterparts, offering a robust set of features. Users will find options for screen sharing, interactive call reactions, and a dedicated 'Calls' tab within WhatsApp Web. This tab provides a comprehensive history of all calls and allows users to manage their favorite contacts for quick access. All calls made via the browser are end-to-end encrypted, free of charge, and come with no time limits, ensuring privacy and convenience.
WhatsApp highlighted several scenarios where this feature proves particularly useful, such as for students using shared computers, professionals on work laptops with app download restrictions, or anyone who simply prefers to stay within their browser environment for communication.

Alongside the new web calling feature, WhatsApp is rolling out several other improvements to its overall calling experience:
Seamless Call Transfer
- Users can now transfer an active group call between devices without interruption. A call initiated on a mobile device or tablet can be seamlessly moved to WhatsApp Web or Desktop, and vice versa, facilitating transitions from on-the-go to larger screen collaboration.
Group Call Waiting Room
- Hosts of group calls gain enhanced control over who joins. By enabling the 'Require approval to join' option when creating a call link, participants will enter a waiting room until the host grants them access, improving call security and management.
QuickHD Video Quality
- Video quality at the start of calls has been significantly improved. With QuickHD, high-definition video is available from the very first seconds of a call, eliminating the previous delay in loading high-quality visuals.
Integrated Noise Suppression
- WhatsApp has introduced noise suppression technology to filter out distracting background sounds. This feature ensures the caller's voice remains clear and prominent, even in noisy environments, and can be toggled on or off via in-call settings.
