· · 2 min read

President Donald Trump has formed a new 'Super Intelligence Force' (SIF) led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton. This task force will coordinate federal efforts to maintain US global leadership in AI and protect American interests.

President Donald Trump has announced the formation of a new governmental body, dubbed the "Super Intelligence Force" (SIF), aimed at solidifying the United States' global leadership in artificial intelligence. The initiative follows a recent White House meeting where top AI executives reportedly agreed to a voluntary framework for technology development oversight.

The President, who has begun referring to artificial intelligence as "super intelligence," stated that the SIF's primary mission is to coordinate federal government efforts to ensure America's continued preeminence in this rapidly evolving field. Trump emphasized that "Super Intelligence" is a transformative technology, potentially exceeding the impact of the Industrial Revolution and the internet, and will be crucial for protecting American interests and improving citizens' lives.

Leadership and Mandate of the Super Intelligence Force

The newly established Super Intelligence Force will be led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton. He will be joined by a diverse group of officials, including Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, the Pentagon's Under Secretary for War for Research and Engineering, Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. The group will report directly to President Trump and his chief of staff, Susie Wiles.

Beyond internal coordination, the SIF is tasked with broad engagement across various sectors. This includes outreach to consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers, and the very AI companies whose technology it seeks to guide. This comprehensive approach is designed to foster a collaborative environment while ensuring responsible development and deployment of advanced AI.

The creation of the SIF underscores the administration's commitment to proactive governance in the face of burgeoning technological advancements, aiming to balance innovation with national security and public welfare.
