Samsung has officially introduced its latest lineup of foldable smartphones at the highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event. The South Korean tech giant unveiled three new devices: the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, a wider book-style foldable; the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, a rebranded taller book-style foldable promising premium performance; and the compact clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 8.
All three new foldables boast significant upgrades in specifications, features, and integrate advanced Galaxy AI functionalities, aiming to attract a broad range of consumers.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra: Design and Performance
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra showcase notable design enhancements, including Samsung's innovative Flex Titanium display technology. This involves a titanium-alloy film behind the OLED display and a titanium plate underneath, providing superior structural support, reducing display creases, and offering a slimmer, more durable folding experience compared to previous polymer-based designs.
- The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is touted as the world’s lightest foldable, weighing just 201 grams. It features a new form factor with a wider cover display and an aspect ratio of 4:3 when unfolded and 10:16 when folded.
- The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is now slimmer at 4.1mm. It sports a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8.0-inch inner display, both offering a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
Both models are powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 For Galaxy processor, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. They will run on One UI 9, based on Android 17, delivering an enhanced software experience with integrated Galaxy AI features.
Camera and Battery Specifications
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features a robust triple camera setup: a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens. It includes a 10MP selfie camera on the cover screen and another 10MP camera on the inner display. The device is backed by a 5000mAh battery supporting 45W charging.
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes with a dual camera system: a 50MP wide main camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera. It shares the same dual 10MP front cameras as the Ultra variant. A 4800mAh battery powers the Z Fold 8, also with 45W charging support.
Galaxy Z Flip 8: Compact and Powerful
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 also receives significant design upgrades, now slimmer at 6.1mm and weighing 180 grams. It features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover screen and a 6.9-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen, both supporting a 120Hz refresh rate with Vision Booster technology.
Under the hood, the Z Flip 8 is equipped with Samsung's new 2nm Exynos 2600 processor, alongside 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. It will also run on One UI 9 based on Android 17, bringing new Galaxy AI capabilities to the clamshell form factor. A 4,300 mAh dual battery powers the device.
Flip 8 Camera
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 sports a dual camera setup on the rear, comprising a 50MP wide-angle camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies, it includes a 10MP camera on the main screen.
