Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Gets One UI 9 Stable Update, Global Rollout Next Week

· · 2 min read

The Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra are receiving the stable One UI 9.0 update, based on Android 17, starting in South Korea. Global availability is anticipated from October 12, bringing significant Quick Panel design changes and the September 2026 security patch.

Samsung has commenced the rollout of its stable One UI 9.0 update, built on Android 17, for the Galaxy S24 series. This significant software upgrade is initially reaching users in South Korea, specifically those who participated in the beta program for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra devices.

Key Features of One UI 9.0

The One UI 9.0 update, approximately 480MB in size, introduces several enhancements, most notably a redesigned Quick Panel. Users will now have the flexibility to resize the brightness slider, volume slider, and media player independently. Furthermore, the Display Mode and Sound Mode controls have been separated from these sliders, offering greater customization over their appearance and functionality.

Global Rollout and Security Patch

While the initial deployment is focused on Samsung's home market, the company plans to expand the stable release to global markets starting October 12, 2026. The update also incorporates the crucial September 2026 security patch, bolstering device security.

Checking for the Update

For Galaxy S24 series owners outside South Korea, the exact timing of the update may vary by region and device. Once available, users can manually check for the update by navigating to:

  • Settings
  • Software update
  • Download and install

If the update isn't immediately visible, it indicates that Samsung is likely rolling it out in phases, and it should become available in your region soon.

Samsung's Commitment to Software Support

The Galaxy S24 series originally launched with Android 14 and One UI 6.1. With the arrival of One UI 9.0, Samsung continues to uphold its commitment to provide seven years of operating system upgrades for its flagship lineup, ensuring long-term software support and feature enhancements for users.
