· · 3 min read

A new 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant of the OPPO Reno 16 5G is reportedly launching in India soon. Priced around ₹60,000-62,000, it aims to offer a more accessible entry point to the series, alongside reports of the upcoming F35 series.

Smartphone manufacturer OPPO is reportedly preparing to expand its Reno 16 lineup in India with a more affordable storage configuration. A new variant of the OPPO Reno 16 5G, featuring 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, is expected to launch soon, offering consumers a cheaper entry point into the premium series.

New Reno 16 Variant Targets Affordability

According to tipster Sanju Choudhary on X, the upcoming 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model of the Reno 16 5G could be priced in India between ₹60,000 and ₹62,000. This would make it significantly more accessible than the existing 8GB + 256GB variant, which currently retails for ₹66,999, and the 12GB + 256GB model priced at ₹72,999.

The Reno 16 series is designed to offer a premium experience, and this new storage option aims to make that experience available to a wider audience without compromising on core features.

Key Specifications of the OPPO Reno 16

The OPPO Reno 16 5G boasts a comprehensive set of features. It comes equipped with a vibrant 6.32-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, offering a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage for robust performance.

For photography enthusiasts, the Reno 16 features a versatile triple-camera setup on the rear, each sensor being 50MP. This includes a primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera capable of 3.5x optical zoom, also with OIS. The front-facing camera is equally impressive, sporting a 50MP sensor. Both front and rear cameras support video recording at up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.

Powering the device is a substantial 6,700mAh battery, supported by OPPO's rapid 80W SUPERVOOC charging technology. The phone also carries an IP69K rating for durability and runs on ColorOS 16, based on Android.

Potential Competition and Upcoming F35 Series

At the rumored price point of around ₹60,000, the new Reno 16 variant would face stiff competition, even from OPPO's own portfolio. For instance, the Reno 15 Pro Mini, available at ₹59,999, offers more RAM (12GB) and storage (256GB), a Dimensity 8450 chipset, a 200MP main camera, and a 6,200mAh battery with 80W charging.

In related news, the same tipster, Sanju Choudhary, has also indicated that OPPO is preparing to launch its F35 series in India soon. However, specific details regarding launch dates or device specifications for the F35 lineup are yet to be confirmed.

For potential buyers, the final pricing and value proposition of the 128GB storage at this premium segment will be crucial, especially when considering alternatives that might offer greater storage capacity or different performance benefits for a similar investment.
