OpenAI is globally deploying its latest large language model, GPT-6, to all ChatGPT users. This significant update introduces an innovative feature called 'Intelligent UI,' designed to transform user interactions by incorporating visual and interactive elements directly into chat responses.
What is Intelligent UI?
The Intelligent UI capability allows ChatGPT to deliver fully interactive user interfaces within the chat environment. This means responses can now include dynamic diagrams, tappable buttons, data entry forms, charts, and even small, functional tools. OpenAI states this innovation aims to make everyday answers more visual, simplify the learning of complex subjects, and enable users to quickly create custom tools for specific tasks on demand.
For instance, a travel itinerary might now feature an integrated map with recommended stops, while a recipe could display each step alongside its precise cooking time. Users tackling complex topics can interact with diagrams, adjusting inputs to observe different outcomes. The system also empowers users to request custom utilities, such as a savings-growth calculator, a dinner bill splitter, or even a playable game, all embedded within the chat interface.
GPT-6 Performance and Enhancements
OpenAI highlights several key performance upgrades with the GPT-6 model. It excels in speed, demonstrating enhanced reasoning capabilities and the ability to construct responses progressively, minimizing user wait times. According to internal metrics, GPT-6 Instant begins answering 44% sooner on average compared to its predecessor, GPT-5.6 Instant.
For high-value, agentic tasks, GPT-6 Extra High matches the response initiation time of GPT-5.6 Medium while achieving superior overall performance compared to GPT-5.6 Extra High. The new model also boasts improved decision-making and a more reliable ability to locate supporting information, addressing difficult questions more effectively than GPT-5.6.
Availability and Tiers
The rollout of GPT-6 with Intelligent UI is commencing globally. ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers will access the GPT-6 Sol model. Meanwhile, users on the Free and Go tiers will also receive the update, powered by the GPT-6 Luna model. OpenAI confirms that both Sol and Luna versions are optimized for engaging and effective everyday conversations across all user segments.
