OnePlus Faces US & Europe Exit Amid Strategic Shift This Week

· · 2 min read

Reports indicate smartphone maker OnePlus is poised to exit the US and European markets this week, potentially unveiling major strategic changes. Parent company Oppo is expected to assume a larger role, while operations in India and China are projected to remain unaffected.

Reports are emerging that Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is set to cease operations in the United States and Europe, with significant strategic announcements expected this week. While the brand itself has not officially confirmed these claims, industry observers suggest its parent company, Oppo, will step in to fill the void in these crucial Western markets.

Oppo to Bolster Presence as OnePlus Scales Back

According to sources familiar with the matter, OnePlus and Oppo are preparing to reveal a series of strategic changes. This shift would see Oppo taking a more prominent role in the US and European smartphone landscape, potentially absorbing a portion of OnePlus's existing market share.

For current OnePlus users in these regions, the company is expected to continue providing essential services. This includes ongoing software updates, robust after-sales support, and honoring existing warranties, ensuring that customers are not left without assistance.

No New Devices, Existing Inventory to Sell Out

As part of the anticipated changes, it is reported that no new OnePlus devices will be launched in Europe or the US. Retailers will continue to sell their current stock of smartphones until inventory is depleted. Once existing shipments run out, OnePlus is not expected to send any new products to these markets, effectively phasing out its presence.

India and China Operations Remain Unaffected

Despite the significant restructuring in Western markets, OnePlus's operations in India and China are projected to remain robust and unaffected. Both countries represent critical markets for the brand, where it has continued to see strong performance and launch new products.

In India, OnePlus recently introduced its new N series model, the OnePlus N6, catering to the affordable segment. Furthermore, Counterpoint Research indicates that OnePlus led the affordable premium segment (Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 45,000) in India during the first quarter of 2026, underscoring its continued success and strategic importance in the region.

Official Confirmation Awaited

While these reports have circulated for some time, an official statement from OnePlus regarding its global restructuring is still pending. The industry awaits a formal announcement to clarify the precise nature of these strategic shifts and their full implications for the brand and its global customer base.
