TAIPEI, TAIWAN – Dell has officially entered the fray at Computex 2026, launching its new XPS 13 laptop with a clear aim at Apple's MacBook Neo. Touted as the slimmest and lightest in the XPS series, this new device positions itself as an affordable yet premium option for students and casual users.
The Dell XPS 13 comes packed with features designed to appeal to a broad audience. It boasts a CNC-machined aluminum chassis, giving it a premium feel, and measures a mere 12.7mm in thickness while weighing approximately 997 grams. The laptop features a 2.5K touchscreen display with an impressive 120Hz refresh rate and up to 500 nits of brightness. For enhanced productivity, it includes a backlit keyboard and supports WiFi 7, ensuring fast and reliable connectivity. Two USB-C ports are available for peripherals and charging.
Performance and Battery Life
Under the hood, the new XPS 13 is powered by an Intel Core Series 3 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. To maintain optimal performance, Dell has integrated a dual-fan cooling system. Users can also expect robust battery life, with Dell claiming up to 17 hours of video playback on a single charge.
Pricing and Availability
The Dell XPS 13 is priced at $700, which converts to approximately Rs 67,900. In a strategic move to attract the education market, Dell is offering a special student price of $599 (around Rs 56,832) for users under 16. While the device has been unveiled globally at Computex, Indian pricing and specific availability details are yet to be confirmed by Dell.
XPS 13 vs. MacBook Neo: Key Differences
Dell's new laptop directly takes on Apple's MacBook Neo, particularly in features and value. The XPS 13 offers a slightly larger 13.4-inch touchscreen display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate, a significant advantage over the MacBook Neo's standard 60Hz display and lack of touch functionality. Furthermore, the Dell XPS 13 includes a fully backlit keyboard, crucial for low-light environments, a feature reportedly absent in the MacBook Neo. Dell's offering is also marginally lighter, enhancing its portability, and provides two high-speed USB-C (3.2 Gen 2) ports.
