BGMI Lite Renamed BGMI Air, Hits 10 Million Pre-Registrations Ahead of India Launch

· · 2 min read

KRAFTON India has rebranded BGMI Lite as BGMI Air, announcing over 10 million pre-registrations ahead of its India launch. This lighter version aims to make the popular battle royale game more accessible to a wider audience with a smaller download size.

KRAFTON India has officially announced the renaming of its upcoming mobile game, previously known as BGMI Lite, to BGMI Air. This strategic rebranding comes as the title surpassed an impressive 10 million pre-registrations, signaling strong anticipation among Indian mobile gamers.

Accessibility at the Core of BGMI Air

The primary objective behind BGMI Air is to deliver the core BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI) experience in a more streamlined and accessible package. Designed with device storage limitations in mind, the game is expected to feature an initial download size of approximately 1GB. This approach aims to broaden the game's reach, allowing more players across India to engage with the popular battle royale franchise without compromising on essential gameplay elements.

The milestone of 10 million pre-registrations, announced on October 15, 2026, underscores the significant demand for a lighter version of BGMI. Pre-registrations for Android users in India initially opened on Google Play on August 25, 2026.

Upcoming Open Beta and Account Clarifications

KRAFTON India plans to introduce an open beta phase soon, offering players early access to new features and gameplay. This beta period will be crucial for gathering player feedback, which will then be used to refine the gaming experience ahead of the official full launch. Further updates and detailed information about BGMI Air are expected to be shared via its official Instagram page and other communication channels.

Importantly, KRAFTON India has clarified that existing BGMI players will not need to transfer their accounts to play BGMI Air. The new title will operate independently, allowing players to enjoy it separately without migrating their current BGMI accounts. This positions BGMI Air as an additional, lighter option for fans of the battle royale genre, reinforcing KRAFTON India's commitment to expanding its presence within the country's vibrant gaming and esports ecosystem.
