Apple iPhone 18 Pro & Ultra Launch Expected in September 2026; Pre-Orders May Shift

· · 2 min read

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and its first foldable, the iPhone Ultra, in September 2026. Reports suggest a launch event around September 8 or 9, with pre-orders potentially shifting to September 12 due to the 9/11 anniversary.

Apple is reportedly preparing to host its highly anticipated annual iPhone launch event in September 2026, where the tech giant is expected to introduce the new iPhone 18 Pro models alongside the groundbreaking iPhone Ultra, its first foldable smartphone.

Potential Launch Dates Emerge

While Apple has yet to issue an official announcement, industry whispers and analyst reports point to a launch event occurring early in September. Initial reports, including insights from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, suggested September 9 as the likely date for the unveiling of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. However, more recent information indicates that September 8 is also being considered.

Despite the conflicting dates, September 8 appears less probable given Apple's historical event scheduling, which typically leaves at least two days between the US Labor Day holiday and its major product announcements. This pattern would favor September 9 or a later date in the week.

Pre-Order Schedule Adjustment Anticipated

Beyond the launch event itself, Apple may also adjust its pre-order timeline. The 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks falls on September 11, 2026, a date Apple is likely to avoid for commercial activities out of respect. Consequently, pre-orders, which often begin shortly after the event, could be pushed to September 12, 2026.

Should the launch event take place later in the week, perhaps on September 14 or 15, then pre-orders might commence on September 18, aligning with Apple's typical Friday pre-order kickoffs.

iPhone Ultra: Apple's Foldable Debut

A significant highlight of the upcoming event is expected to be the debut of the iPhone Ultra. This device marks Apple's inaugural foray into the foldable smartphone market, a segment where competitors have already established a presence. Reports suggest that the iPhone Ultra may initially be available exclusively in the United States, with a wider international rollout planned for a later date.

As the potential launch window approaches, the technology community awaits an official announcement from Apple to confirm the precise dates for the event and the availability of its next-generation iPhone lineup.
