Amazon has announced significant price increases for several of its popular electronic devices in India, with hikes reaching up to Rs 4,000 on certain models. The affected product lines include Kindle e-readers, Echo smart speakers, and Fire TV streaming devices. This move by the e-commerce giant comes amidst a broader trend of rising costs for memory and storage components across the global tech sector.
The price adjustments are not limited to India, as Amazon has reportedly implemented similar increases across various product categories in other international markets as well. The company attributes these changes to the growing pressure from the cost of essential components like RAM, DRAM, SSDs, and NAND storage.
Kindle E-Reader Price Adjustments
- The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite has seen its price revised from Rs 16,999 to Rs 20,999, marking a substantial Rs 4,000 increase.
Echo Smart Speaker Price Revisions
Several devices within Amazon's Echo smart speaker lineup have also received price hikes:
- The Amazon Echo Show 8 is now priced at Rs 24,999, up from Rs 23,499.
- Both the Amazon Echo Show 5 and Amazon Echo Dot Max have experienced a Rs 1,000 price increase, now retailing at Rs 11,999 and Rs 10,999 respectively.
- The Amazon Echo Spot's price has been raised to Rs 8,999.
Fire TV Streaming Device Increases
Amazon's Fire TV streaming devices are also subject to the new pricing structure:
- The Amazon Fire TV Stick HD and Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Plus have both seen price increases of up to Rs 500. Their new prices are Rs 5,249 and Rs 6,999, respectively.
While official prices have increased, customers may still find opportunities for discounts during promotional events and sales.
