The race for the next ₹1,000 crore blockbuster is officially underway. Following a string of global hits, India's most prominent superstars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Yash, Prabhas, Jr NTR, and Allu Arjun, are returning with some of the most ambitious and high-budget films ever conceived. These upcoming releases, featuring top directors and pan-India appeal, are expected to redefine box office records over the next two years.
Shah Rukh Khan: King
Following the monumental success of Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan is set to star in King, an action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand. The film has garnered significant buzz as it marks the theatrical debut of his daughter, Suhana Khan. Khan is expected to portray a ruthless assassin on a final mission, protecting a young girl. Deepika Padukone is reportedly in a pivotal role, with Abhishek Bachchan slated as the primary antagonist. With large-scale international action sequences, King is positioned for a Christmas 2026 release as one of Bollywood's biggest.
Yash: Toxic and Ramayana
After breaking box office records with KGF: Chapter 2, Yash will headline Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Geetu Mohandas. This stylish action drama, set against an international drug cartel, promises a different tone from the KGF franchise. Featuring an ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, and Huma Qureshi, Toxic is slated for an August 26, 2026 release.
Yash is also taking on the iconic role of Ravana in Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana. The actor is not only playing the powerful antagonist but is also co-producing this ambitious two-part epic. Reports suggest a staggering budget of around ₹4,000 crore, potentially making it India's most expensive film. Co-starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, the project aims to be a global cinematic spectacle with cutting-edge visual effects, with its first installment arriving Diwali 2026.
Prabhas: Fauji and Spirit
Prabhas is collaborating with director Hanu Raghavapudi on Fauji, a period action drama set in the pre-Independence era. The film is said to follow a soldier's journey, combining emotional storytelling with large-scale action. This role is expected to present Prabhas in a new light compared to his recent commercial films. Fauji is highly anticipated among Telugu releases for 2026.
Another significant project for Prabhas is Spirit, directed by Animal filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Prabhas will reportedly play a fierce, morally complex police officer in this first collaboration with Vanga, known for intense storytelling and stylized action. Spirit is planned as a multilingual release in 2027 with a global theatrical rollout.
Jr NTR: Dragon
Fresh from expanding his pan-India popularity with RRR and War 2, Jr NTR will lead Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel. The film is expected to feature high-voltage action, emotionally driven storytelling, and larger-than-life visuals, consistent with Neel’s signature style seen in KGF and Salaar. Fans eagerly await this collaboration between two major names in Indian cinema, with Dragon set for a 2027 release.
Allu Arjun: Raaka
Following the phenomenal success of Pushpa 2, Allu Arjun teams up with blockbuster director Atlee for Raaka. This project is anticipated to be a commercial entertainer featuring stylish action, grand visuals, and cutting-edge VFX. Atlee's track record, including films like Jawan, has significantly heightened expectations for Raaka, making it one of the most anticipated pan-India releases for late 2027.
Ranveer Singh: Pralay
After the success of his beloved Dhurandhar franchise, Ranveer Singh is exploring a new genre with Pralay, a zombie survival thriller. This film aims to blend horror, action, and suspense on a scale rarely attempted in Bollywood, featuring extensive visual effects, intense action sequences, and an unusual storyline to offer Indian audiences a fresh cinematic experience.
