Priyadarshan Doubts Hera Pheri 3 Release Amid Legal Issues & Conflicts

· · 2 min read

Filmmaker Priyadarshan has confirmed his exit from 'Hera Pheri 3', stating legal disputes and personal conflicts make the film unlikely to release. This casts serious doubt on the highly anticipated sequel starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal.

The future of 'Hera Pheri 3', one of Bollywood's most anticipated comedy sequels, has become increasingly uncertain after director Priyadarshan confirmed his disassociation from the project. The filmmaker, initially expected to helm the third installment of the iconic franchise, cited ongoing legal disputes and personal conflicts as the primary reasons for his departure.

Priyadarshan Confirms Exit and Doubts Film's Future

Priyadarshan's confirmation followed producer Firoz A. Nadiadwala's earlier statement that the veteran director was no longer involved. Acknowledging Nadiadwala's accuracy, Priyadarshan expressed profound skepticism regarding the film's prospects.

"What Feroze has said is true. I am not associated with Hera Pheri 3 at present," Priyadarshan told Hindustan Times. He further revealed, "To the best of my knowledge, Hera Pheri 3 will never hit the screen due to lots of legal issues and personal conflicts. Whether I am involved or not is unimportant."

These comments deliver a significant blow to legions of fans eagerly awaiting the reunion of Akshay Kumar as Raju, Suniel Shetty as Shyam, and Paresh Rawal as Baburao.

Long-Standing Hurdles and Ownership Disputes

Reports indicate that 'Hera Pheri 3' has been entangled in multiple legal disputes concerning the ownership of the film and its music rights. Priyadarshan had previously acknowledged that various parties were claiming ownership of the franchise, complicating production efforts. He had also stated earlier in the year that the film would not commence production until these issues were resolved.

The franchise has faced several hurdles over the past year, including a temporary exit by actor Paresh Rawal, who later reportedly resolved his differences with the makers. With Priyadarshan now stepping away and legal battles unresolved, the fate of 'Hera Pheri 3' remains deeply uncertain.

Producer Remains Optimistic

Despite Priyadarshan's pessimistic outlook, producer Firoz A. Nadiadwala maintains a positive stance on the project's progression. In a recent interview, while confirming the director's departure, Nadiadwala insisted that "things are on track and moving in the right direction." However, specific details on how the production will proceed without its previously announced director and amidst ongoing legal challenges were not immediately clear.
