Ajay Devgn and Tabu's crime thriller, 'Drishyam 3: The Conclusion', continues its strong run at the box office, closing in on the ₹350 crore mark in India. However, its second-week performance has seen a noticeable dip, primarily impacted by the release of Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2'.
Drishyam 3's Second Week Box Office Performance
'Drishyam 3' collected an impressive ₹245.50 crore in its opening week across India. Its second-week daily collections saw fluctuations:
- Second Friday: ₹14.50 crore
- Second Saturday: ₹26.50 crore
- Second Sunday: ₹22.50 crore
- Second Monday: ₹6 crore
- Second Tuesday: ₹8.50 crore
- Second Wednesday: ₹5.25 crore
- Second Thursday: ₹4.25 crore
This brings the film's total India box office earnings to ₹333 crore (₹399.05 crore gross). With an additional ₹116 crore from overseas markets, 'Drishyam 3' has achieved a worldwide collection of ₹515.05 crore. Despite the strong overall numbers, the film's collections saw a sharp drop of over 40% from its opening week highs, with Thursday's overall occupancy recorded at 11.17%.
'Jailer 2' Dents 'Drishyam 3' Run
The highly anticipated release of Rajinikanth-starrer 'Jailer 2' has significantly affected 'Drishyam 3', particularly in the crucial southern markets. 'Jailer 2' made a massive opening day collection of ₹59.70 crore at the Indian box office, with a substantial portion coming from its Tamil and Telugu language shows. This new mass entertainer has created a formidable challenge for 'Drishyam 3' as it aims to reach its ₹350 crore target.
New Bollywood Releases Face Tough Competition
Amidst the ongoing box office battle between 'Drishyam 3' and 'Jailer 2', other new Bollywood releases are attempting to find their footing. Yami Gautam's comic caper 'Nayyi Navelli' recorded advance bookings of ₹2.55 crore (₹1.18 crore net) from nearly 100,000 tickets across 6,796 shows. Similarly, Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi's 'Prahaar - The Ujjwal Nikam Story' garnered ₹1.52 crore (₹59.56 lakh net) from 53,347 tickets across 4,255 shows. These films face an uphill battle to make a significant impact against the established success of 'Drishyam 3' and the new wave of 'Jailer 2'.
