Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway recently revealed she consulted with pop star Charli XCX while preparing for her role in the upcoming film, 'Mother Mary'. Hathaway, who portrays a pop musician in the movie, reached out to Charli XCX to gain authentic insights into the demanding life of a music icon.
Hathaway Seeks Pop Star Authenticity
In a recent interview, Hathaway shared that her primary goal was to understand the nuances of a pop star's existence. "The person that I spoke to was Charli," Hathaway stated. "I wanted to talk to her about the music, she wrote such amazing music that I was going to perform. But I also just had a lot of questions for her about what her life was like, what the experience of being a pop star was." Charli XCX is among the artists contributing original music to the film.
Newfound Respect for Musicians
The experience of preparing for the role instilled in Hathaway a profound respect for pop artists. She described them as "endurance athletes who can do it all in platform heels." Hathaway elaborated on her admiration, noting, "They are the most charming people on the planet, and they have this crazy self-belief, like they're so driven to share what's inside of them."
Despite her deep dive into the pop world, Hathaway jokingly ruled out a career change for herself. She noted that acting allows her to share what's inside "through a filter," a contrast to the intense vulnerability often required of pop stars.
