The Indian box office is witnessing a dramatic shift as Yash's highly anticipated gangster film, 'Toxic', faces a significant downturn, while the devotional drama 'Hanuman Ansh' emerges as an unexpected blockbuster. After a strong opening, 'Toxic' has seen its daily collections plummet, struggling to maintain its theatrical momentum.
'Toxic's Box Office Performance Dips Sharply
Yash's pan-India spectacle, 'Toxic', opened impressively with ₹101.10 crore, driven by immense star power and pre-release hype. However, its first-week collection settled at ₹239.30 crore, according to film trade portal Sacnilk, indicating that the initial surge did not sustain.
The film's performance saw a sharp decline in its second week. On Day 13, 'Toxic' recorded a staggering 72% drop in its daily business. Its second-week figures were ₹1.75 crore on Friday, ₹2.28 crore on Saturday, ₹2.42 crore on Sunday, and a mere ₹0.66 crore on Monday.
Cumulatively, 'Toxic's total India net box office collection now stands at ₹246.41 crore, translating to domestic gross earnings of ₹294.09 crore. With an additional ₹43.30 crore from overseas markets, its worldwide gross collection reaches ₹337.39 crore.
'Hanuman Ansh' Emerges as a Sleeper Hit
In stark contrast, 'Hanuman Ansh', a low-budget devotional drama centered on Neem Karoli Baba, has defied expectations. Starting with a humble ₹10 lakh on its opening day, the film collected ₹1.08 crore in its first week and ₹0.40 crore in its second week.
The turning point for 'Hanuman Ansh' came from its third week onwards, where it saw exponential growth, earning ₹10.40 crore. Its fourth week was particularly impressive, raking in a whopping ₹61 crore at the domestic box office for a film made on a budget of approximately ₹2 crore.
Continuing its strong run into the fifth week, 'Hanuman Ansh' collected ₹10 crore on Friday, ₹16.50 crore on Saturday, ₹22.75 crore on Sunday, and ₹9.50 crore on Monday. Its total India net box office collection has now reached ₹131.63 crore, with domestic gross earnings at ₹155.65 crore, positioning it to soon cross the ₹150 crore milestone.
