Yash's much-awaited action thriller, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, experienced a notable slowdown at the box office on its second day, following an impressive opening. The film, which marked Yash's return after the blockbuster success of KGF: Chapter 2, opened to a net collection of ₹101.10 crore across India on its release day, Wednesday.
However, the Geetu Mohandas directorial saw its collections dip sharply on Day 2, earning approximately ₹36.40 crore net. This figure represents a steep 64% decline compared to its opening day numbers. Despite the significant drop, Toxic has accumulated an India net total of around ₹137.50 crore over its first two days, according to industry trackers Sacnilk.
Mixed Reviews Impact Momentum
The film's momentum appears to be affected by a mixed critical and audience reception. While Yash's powerful screen presence and the action sequences have garnered praise, reviews have been divided regarding the story, pacing, and editing. Early audience reactions specifically highlighted the film’s lengthy runtime and an uneven narrative as potential drawbacks.
This mixed word-of-mouth has directly influenced the film's second-day performance, leading to a much lower occupancy rate compared to its premiere. On Thursday, Toxic recorded an overall India occupancy of approximately 26.6%, a significant decrease from the 56.1% occupancy observed on its opening day.

The Hindi version of Toxic continued to be the primary revenue driver on Day 2, reportedly collecting ₹23 crore net. The Kannada version, which is the film's original language, earned around ₹8.50 crore. Other language contributions included Telugu at approximately ₹3 crore, Tamil at ₹1.50 crore, and Malayalam at ₹40 lakh.
These figures underscore the crucial role of the Hindi market in Toxic's overall theatrical performance, despite its pan-India release across multiple languages.
