Akshay Kumar's latest film, "Welcome to the Jungle" (also known as "Welcome 3"), has shown a significant uptick in its box office performance, with collections surging by approximately 31% on its first Saturday. This boost has pushed the film's total domestic net earnings to nearly ₹39 crore by the end of Saturday.
Weekend Performance Highlights
The action-comedy caper began its theatrical run with paid previews on Thursday, earning ₹3.75 crore. Its first official Friday saw collections rise to ₹15.25 crore. The biggest jump came on Saturday, with an estimated ₹20 crore added to its tally, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. These figures bring the cumulative domestic net collection to around ₹39 crore.
Looking ahead, "Welcome to the Jungle" is expected to maintain its momentum on Sunday, with projections suggesting an additional ₹22-25 crore. Early bookings for Sunday had already reached ₹6.27 crore, indicating sustained audience interest. The film recorded an overall occupancy of 28.61% across its shows on Saturday, with Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Karnataka identified as top contributing regions.
Critical Reception and Market Trends
Despite opening to a mixed bag of reviews from both critics and moviegoers, "Welcome to the Jungle" has demonstrated strong performance, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 markets. Its appeal, largely attributed to the nostalgia associated with the "Welcome" franchise, has helped it dominate single screens over other releases like "Cocktail 2," starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.
