Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is preparing to launch its ultra-compact VF 3 mini-SUV in the Indian market later this year. This strategic move aims to broaden VinFast's local EV offerings in India, following the planned introductions of the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs.
Compact Design and Dimensions
The VinFast VF 3 is characterized by its distinctive boxy aesthetic, drawing inspiration from classic off-road vehicles. Measuring 3,114mm in length, 1,679mm in width, and 1,652mm in height, the VF 3 boasts a compact footprint ideal for urban environments. It features a wheelbase of 2,075mm and a ground clearance of 191mm, providing a relatively high stance for its size.
Exterior design elements include rectangular LED headlamps connected by a gloss-black panel that prominently displays VinFast’s V-shaped chrome accent and logo. Thick black cladding around the bumpers, wheel arches, and side sills accentuates its SUV styling. The vehicle sports a flat roofline, upright pillars, and short overhangs, contributing to its upright posture. The side profile reveals a single large door, squared wheel arches, and 16-inch steel wheels, while blacked-out A-, B-, and C-pillars create a wraparound glasshouse effect.
Minimalist Interior and Features
Inside, the VF 3 offers a simple, minimalist cabin designed to accommodate four occupants. The front seats are manually adjustable and upholstered in fabric, while the rear bench can be folded flat to expand luggage capacity. A centrally mounted 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system serves as the primary interface for vehicle functions, as the VF 3 foregoes a traditional driver’s instrument cluster or head-up display.
Additional interior features include a D-cut multifunction steering wheel, physical buttons for volume and hazard lights located below the touchscreen, manual air conditioning, keyless entry, a USB charging port, and a two-speaker audio system. All seats come with fixed headrests.
Performance and Range
Powering the VinFast VF 3 is a rear-mounted electric motor that generates 43 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque. This motor is paired with an 18.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which provides a claimed driving range of up to 210 km on a single charge. This performance specification positions the VF 3 as a practical option for daily commutes and city driving in India.
