The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, presented its first supplementary budget for the 2026-27 financial year, proposing an additional expenditure of ₹59,019.54 crore. The substantial financial package aims to bolster key sectors, with the largest allocations earmarked for heavy and medium industries, rural development, and the energy sector.
State Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the supplementary demands for grants in the Assembly during the Monsoon Session. He detailed that the budget comprises ₹17,399.50 crore in revenue expenditure and ₹41,620.04 crore in capital expenditure, including fresh proposals worth ₹7,854.25 crore. This supplementary budget follows the state's main ₹9.13 lakh crore budget presented in February for the same financial year.

- Heavy and Medium Industries: ₹22,107.88 crore
- Rural Development: ₹17,942.73 crore
- Energy Sector: ₹7,422.27 crore
- Medical and Health Services: ₹2,025 crore
- Social Welfare Department: ₹1,655 crore
- Women Welfare Department: ₹1,094.40 crore
- Public Works Department: ₹700.01 crore
Finance Minister Khanna also reassured the House that the state's fiscal deficit remained within the prescribed limits, indicating prudent financial management despite the additional spending. The presentation of the supplementary budget occurred after a brief adjournment of the House, which was triggered by protests and sloganeering from Samajwadi Party (SP) legislators. Speaker Satish Mahana appealed for order, assuring members that issues could be raised from their seats and would receive a response from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
